REFER A FRIEND SCHEME...
If you heard about us from another credit union member, simply provide their name and membership number and you'll pay no joining fee. Your referee will also have their joining fee remimbursed!
To benefit from the services of the National Fire Savers, you must first become a member. Membership is open to all firefighters and staff working for any of the fire and rescue authorities in England, Scotland and Wales. We can also accept application for membership from retired firefighters and fire brigade staff along with employees of the Firefighters Charity, the Fire Brigades Union and London Fire Brigade Welfare Fund. Proof of eligibility to become a member will be required in all instances. To become a member you will need to open a Membership Account. Our Membership Account is a savings account where every pound saved is equivalent to a one pound share in the credit union (like shares in a company). As your savings are shares in our credit union, you must have at least one pound (£1) in your membership account to qualify for membership rights.
Opening a Membership Account is easy. You can Apply Online. We charge a one-off joining fee (£5.00) to cover the initial cost of membership. This fee is deducted from your first savings contribution to the credit union. Unlike many high street banks, we do not charge any monthly or annual fees.
You can manage your account online using the secure the Members Area or telephoning the Credit Union office (during office hours). When you need your money, either email us, call the office or send a request via the Members Area and we will transfer the money into a bank or building society account that you nominate.
As every member is a part-owner of the credit union, we give the profits back to you at the end of the year as a dividend. Dividends on savings accounts are calculated retrospectively and are declared and awarded annually at the Annual General Meeting.
Once you have become a member of the Credit Union you can continue to enjoy the benefits even if you leave the employment of your fire service. So long as you keep your account active you can continue to be a member for as long as you like and benefit from our products and services.
